AI has come a long way since 1952, when Christopher Strachey created the very first AI program—a checkers game—on the Ferranti Mark I computer at the University of Manchester. Sooner than later in 1997, IBM’s Deep Blue beat chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov. Then in 2011, IBM Watson won Jeopardy!, proving AI could do way more than just playing games.
Since then, AI has evolved insanely fast. Generative AI is leading the way. OpenAI released its first GPT model in 2018, eventually developing ChatGPT, which can write text, generate images, produce audio, and much more! Other companies like Google with Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, and DeepSeek’s R1 and V3 models are pushing the limits even further, doing amazing things at lower costs.
